In March of 2005, I was both honored and humbled to be appointed to serve as Jefferson County Commissioner from District 3 and it has been a privilege to work on your behalf in this capacity.

With over 35 years of corporate and small business experience, I am keenly aware of the challenges facing our leaders and the tough decisions required to best serve the interests of everyone. My experience has allowed me to help Jefferson County operate more like a business.

As County Commissioner I promised fiscal responsibility, accountability and integrity. While in office, we:

• implemented new control and review procedures throughout all
  departments
• realized $55 million savings in 2005 using best business practices
• implemented county wide zero-based budgeting
• adopted a 2006 budget that is $75 million less than the 2005 budget
• supported a new Small Business Development Center
• implemented a higher level of customer service and integrity within departments

Working with Planning and Zoning we implemented a new online notification of development proposals at the time of filing. This site provides early information to citizens concerned with local development and is available by accessing the Jeffco website.

During my term as Commissioner I held community meetings at convenient locations throughout Jefferson County to seek input from citizens.

As your County Commissioner I encouraged open communications, adherence to a strong ethics policy, expanded primary jobs in Jefferson County, and worked toward fiscally responsibility. I appreciate the support given me by the citizens of Jefferson County.
